14th EUROPEAN CONFERENCE FOR SOCIAL WORK RESEARCH
12-14 March 2025
Katholische Stiftungshochschule München / GERMANY

FAQ

1. GETTING AROUND PART I: HOW DO I GET TO THE CONFERENCE VENUE?

The conference venue is the main seminar building of the university, the so-called Ellen-Ammann-House (EAH). Most likely, you will enter the campus via the campus gate at Preysing Street. Walk straight ahead until you´ve passed the big building to your left. Then turn left, now you are looking directly at the EAH.

2. GETTING AROUND PART II: THE LOGIC BEHIND THE ROOM NUMBERS

Oh yes, it may take a while to get the gist of it. Don't worry, by the end of the conference, you will most likely be able to understand the thinking behind the room numbers. In general, room numbers are three-folded, such as x.yzz, where the x refers to the building (13 = the main conference building), y the level (S = basement, E = ground level, 1 = first floor and 2 = second floor) and zz the actual room number. For example, 13.E01means room 01 at the ground level in the main conference building. Since all sessions take place in the main conference building, nevermind the "13” when it comes to the sessions. Oh and bonus tip: all symposiums and workshops are located on the second floor.

3. IS THERE A WIFI?

Our students keep asking whether the building was built on purpose in a way that makes internet service by regular service providers nearly impossible. While the answer is a well-hidden secret, QR codes for the guest wifi are provided throughout the building. You will find them placed at the walls.

4. CATERING AREAS: HOW DOES LUNCH WORK?

Hopefully well. We provide vegan, vegetarian and regular lunch bags with typical Bavarian food across several catering areas. Specifically, in 13.S01, 13.E01, 13.101 and 13.102 in the main conference building. Additionally, there are two m ore rooms in the old part of the building (building 2, so room numbers there start with a 2) in rooms 2.E13 and 2.E14. To find these, enter the main conference building, walk straight ahead and turn left. Go 50m straight through the hallway and find the two rooms to your left and right.

Feel free to chat, network and eat in all of these catering areas. Additionally, if you pass rooms 2.E13 and 2.E14 and go through the glass door, you are entering the mensa. Feel free to use this areas as well! Note: from 12:00 to 13:00, children from the school on the campus will have their lunch here. You can still use the area, it might just be a bit crowded and louder. Also, please feel free to use the plenary session rooms for your lunch as well! Just make sure to leave the place in the same condition you´ve encountered it. Enjoy your meal!

5. LIFE DOESN'T WORK WITHOUT COFFEE. WHERE CAN I GET ONE?

We agree! Coffee will be provided throughout the whole day from 8:30 to late afternoon in all catering areas (See FAQ number 4). You may also find snacks here.

6. WHERE CAN I LEAVE MY JACKET/STUFF?

Enter room 2.E13 (see FAQ number 4 on how to get there), go through the right door on the other side of the room and you enter the cloak room. Feel free to store here whatever you like. Note: We assume no liability and there is no staff looking after clothes etc... We firmly believe in social workers not robbing social workers

7. THE WORLD IS ON FIRE - I WANT TO DISCUSS POLITICAL ISSUES IN AN OPEN SPACE!

We got you covered! We have a designated room for exchange and discussions on political issues and debates. This room will be open for political debate throughout the whole conference, with only two exceptions: Thursday, 13.03.25 from 10:30 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:30. You can find the so-called "aquarium” (cuz it is surrounded by glass walls), room 13.S11, on the basement level. Go down the stairs/ take the elevator to the basement level and turn right. You will see 13.S11 with its glass walls right away.

Please respect the work of the ESWRA Board, the Local Organizing Committee and all workers involved in the ECSWR 2025, by keeping political discussions in this safe space. We absolutely encourage political debate - this is the time and place for them.

8. THERE ARE QUEUES AT THE TOILETTES! WHAT CAN I DO?

Even though the building is officially laid out for 1200 people, there might be certain peak times in which a lot of delegates may want to use the restrooms. Specifically, after each plenary session slot. In case you feel that you need to wait too long to get into a restroom: The restrooms in the basement level are considerably bigger than the others. Also, there are larger restrooms at the mensa (check FAQ number 4 on how to get there). Furthermore, if you are up for a short walk outdoors: mobile toilets can be found near the church at the middle of the campus.

If nothing helps, go to house 5: leave the main conference building through the basement level. When entering the basement via the stairs in the main conference building, turn left and go straight ahead until you exit the building. You are facing the building in which you would find the mensa on the first level. House 5 is right behind that building. In house 5 you will find restrooms in the basement level (women), first level (men), second level (women) and third level (men). Here is how to find your way once you left the main conference building:
